A Busy End to the 2023/24 Season!

Accies Remaining Fixtures

With the Premiership now completed the 1st XV has only one more guaranteed game for the rest of the season - the Cup Round 1 - against Hawks at Raeburn Place on 9 March. Kick-off will be midday, so everyone can see the Italy v Scotland Six Nations game, (kick-off 2.15), on the big screen in the Clubhouse. If we beat Hawks, we will play Heriots in the 2nd round of the Cup at Raeburn Place, on the 13 April.

The 2nd and 3rd XVs have league fixtures through to April albeit our 2nd XV have a couple weeks off until their next match.

We will as usual be taking part in the Spring part of Kings of the Sevens Tournaments, which starts on 13 April at Melrose and winds its way through the Border towns of Hawick, Berwick, Langholm, Kelso, Earlston, Selkirk, finishing up in Jedburgh on the 11 May.

We have entered a 2nd VII at Portobello, Haddington and Musselburgh, though regrettably we had to decline our close neighbours Edinburgh Northern’s tournament as we welcome Bradford & Bingley to Raeburn Place - more below.

Please keep up to speed with fixtures and results on our website or via our social media channels.

Scottish Inter-district Championship - Edinburgh v Caledonia Reds, Saturday, 30 March

As you may well know the Scottish Inter-district Championship re-started last season and it will continue this season, when it will revert to all four Districts playing each other once and the Champion District being decided on the league position.

The Club is very pleased to have been awarded the Edinburgh v Caledonia Reds match, which will be at Raeburn Place on 30 March, KO 3pm.

Before the game we will be having a pre-match lunch, 12.30 meet for a 13.00 sit down. The cost per person is £35, which includes entrance to the game (as it is an ‘all pay’ game), the gate money shared between Edinburgh and Caledonia Districts.

If you would like to book places, for what should be a great day at Raeburn Place, please click here and complete your details.

There is of course a strong bond between Accies and the Edinburgh District team, with many Accies having donned the Edinburgh Jersey since the 1870s. Of our Hasbeens, most notably: Grand Slam captain David Sole; internationals, Jeremy, Richardson and Alex Moore; and amongst others; Jamie Paton, Stuart Munro, Duncan Wilson, Stuart Moffat, Andy Adamson, and last but not least our current Treasurer Brian Hay-Smith.

What's more, a surprising number of Hasbeens have proudly pulled on the North and Midlands (now Caledonia Reds) jersey, They include; our current President Simon Burns, ex-president and Scotland international Dave McIvor, British and Irish Lion Rob Wainwright; internationals Rowan Shepherd, Martin Scott and Derrick Paterson and amongst others; Rod Mitchell, Phil Simpson, Colin Allan, Bryan Easson, Chris Black, Martin Waite, Dave Leckie and Ford Swanson. In the late 1980s early 1990s the N&M match day squad occasionally included seven who played for Accies!

There is a good representation from Accies in the initial Edinburgh District and Caledonia Reds squads. Our coaches Iain Berthinussen and Ross Young are the defence and scrum coaches respectively, and Trina Hewitt is in charge of Physio.

20 April - Bradford & Bingley Return to Raeburn Place!

After far too long a gap, our friends from Bradford & Bingley make a return to Raeburn Place on the 20 April. Already there are 90, players and supporters, making the trip to Edinburgh and we have two games that afternoon - an Accies XV v B&B, KO at 2pm and an Accies Veterans v B&B Veterans, KO 3.30pm.

Before the game we will be having a pre-match lunch, midday meet for a 12.30 sit down. If you would like to book lunch please click here and complete your details.

Please come down and enjoy some great rugby and support your club before the 2023/24 closes!
