Club Statement – 13 Jan 21

The updated guidance from Scottish Rugby for rugby activity permitted during the temporary lockdown can be found here. It advises that all group activity for people aged 12 and above must stop. For children under the age of 12, physically distanced group activity in groups of up to 15 people can continue albeit with strict hygiene and equipment cleaning protocols and no more than 2 coaches per group.

Representatives from the Accies Seniors, Minis and BATs Rugby have discussed the new advice and agreed to suspend all organised group activity for the month of January. This means that there will be no Senior, Minis or BATs training sessions during this time. Our position beyond January will be reviewed and agreed towards the end of this month.

We are sorry to find ourselves in this situation but we cannot ignore the seriousness of the COVID-19 pandemic and we feel halting all organized rugby activity at this time will protect our players, coaches, volunteers and their families, and the wider community.

We realise that the lockdown and this decision will affect our combined force of some 400 players who want to continue their rugby activities. We would encourage everyone to maintain daily, outdoor physical activity within the Scottish Government temporary lockdown guidance of no more than two people from two households and stay at home as much as possible.

Please reach out if you need help and support through this period of uncertainty.
